All
campers are involved in outdoor adventure. Developed in
the mid-1990's the outdoor adventure specialty's goal is
to help groups and individuals develop skills to overcome
obstacles and acheive positive results. The elements of
our course all have group challenges and individual challenges.
The group always spends time discussing the goals and outcomes
of each challenge with our professionally certified ropes
course staff.
The
Outdoor Adventure program is in balance with the skills
and interests of our campers.
Only
our Tzofim campers use the three high ropes course elements:
The Cherry Picker, The Free Jump, and the ever popular ZIPLINE
from the tower platform across the marsh.
Kibbutz
and Tzofim campers learn how to safely climb our 25-foot
tower with a 40-foot extension wall that was newly added
in 2003.
Tzofim,
Kibbutz and Kfar campers use the ten elements on our low
ropes challenge course: Swinging Log, Spider Web, Noah's
Ark, The Titanic, Traverse Course, Small Wall, Hanging Cargo
Net, Nordic Skis, and All Aboard. These challenging elements
teach groups how to work together using communication and
trust. The Incline Log, added in 2003, begins to teach climbing
skills, equipment and safety.
All
Butwin campers use activities from the ABRIS (Adventure
Based Resource Index System), which provides approximately
1000 different group games.
Galim
and Sabra campers use a seperate three-element low challenge
course for beginners, which helps teach the basic concepts
of the Outdoor Adventure philosophy.
